At Lona Child Care, the health and safety of our children is our top priority. We are not equipped to handle ill children, so if your child becomes unwell, we kindly ask that they be picked up promptly once we contact you. Please keep your contact information current so we are able to reach you quickly if needed.
A child should remain at home if they experience any of the following symptoms:
A fever of 100.5°F or higher
Diarrhea or vomiting within the past 24 hours
Any undiagnosed rash
A sore throat or cough
Earache or pink eye
Profuse nasal discharge
Any other illness or condition that prevents comfortable participation in activities
We ask that your child be symptom-free for 24 hours and test negative for COVID-19 before returning to the center. If your child has a confirmed case or shows symptoms of any contagious disease—such as COVID-19, whooping cough, measles, mumps, chickenpox, diphtheria, pinworm, head lice, or scarlet fever—please keep them at home and notify the us immediately. The Director will inform families if any exposure has occurred.
If a child tests positive for a contagious disease, they must remain at home for the period recommended by the California Department of Health. We may request a doctor’s note confirming the diagnosis and the recommended exclusion period.
Thank you for partnering with us to keep our community healthy and safe.
